7/10/2023 0 Comments Is cinema 4d better than blenderIf you end up working for startups or smaller studios or indie development, I think there's a high chance they might be using Blender.Īnd as much as people like to ignore them here, there are studios that use 3ds Max or C4D. If you start with Maya, then chances are that you'll have to go through less of a transition when starting a new job since it's more likely that place will also use Maya. Maya however is more commonly used, especially with bigger studios. And I'm someone who has had to switch software packages in the past, but it's not like my skills as a 3D artist were reset each time I did it.īlender is free, so it's really accessible in that regard for people starting out. Such as texturing, where the industry standard is to use the Substance family of software. Skills are transferrable, and a lot of work is done using other software. I don't believe anybody has to be stuck with any one software package. I've also seen job descriptions for studios asking for people who use C4D. My current job uses Maya, so that's what I'm using, something I also had to pick up on the job. Then I moved onto a new job, which was a small local studio that used Blender. My first job was at a place that used 3ds Max, so that was what I used. But if you're just looking for a job, it's not up to you to consider the pros and cons of each software package.Īt the end of the day, you use whatever the hell the place you work for uses. Unless you're going freelance or starting your own studio I suppose.
